After having a coworker tell me this place was terrible, I was concerned. However, I talked to an Indian guy who said for a lunch buffet place it was actually pretty good. Since we were going for lunch and intended to get the buffet, we went on.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised. The food on the buffet was good (although pretty mild), and it made for a very nice lunch. Not the best Indian food I have had, but it was pretty good. (Disclaimer: I have been to Bangalore, India several times so I am perhaps a bit spoiled.)

My wife was in the mood for Mexican and so when we planned out our menus for the week, we planned that Tuesday would be go out to a Mexican restaurant night.
After doing a search and finding a review we thought we had found a winner. (and it was only a few miles from our temporary apartment.)
I had even found a coupon for 99 cent margaritas.
We got there and were one of the only people there. That wasn't too much of a warning because it was a dark and stormy night....
Anyway, it started out with chips and very bad salsa. This was not homemade and probably came in large containers from some restaurant supply place cheap.
I ordered a margarita, and it was the smallest one I have ever seen. But hey, it was only 99 cents...
The menu was not encouraging, but there was still a possibility...
I ordered Carne Asada, my wife ordered Arroz con Pollo, and my kids ordered tacos and enchiladas.
The food was all very bland, with not very good presentation. The service was ok, but not great.
The bill came and it was $1.99 each for the margaritas. I gave the guy my coupon and the manager came over telling me that it wasn't a coupon but an advertisement for their drink specials. I said, "ok, but you charged me $1.99". He said that he would give me 10% off the bill. I did some quick math and realized that would save me $3 so it wasn't worth arguing about the $2. (I would hate to win an argument to lose $1.)

Marbles Kid Museum

Our 6-year-old girl was invited to a birthday party at this 2-story kids museum. Guests of the party were invited to enjoy the museum at no extra cost to us when the party ended. The party was in the Emerald Isle room which is in close proximity to a large indoor pirate ship. The first-graders (girls and boys!) enjoyed climbing on board, hoisting the flag, swabbing the deck and dropping the huge anchor overboard, all while dressed in pirate clothes that were in the treasure chests there. Across from the pirate ship was a little area for experimenting with colors. Children were encouraged to make secondary colors by mixing 3 primary colors in various combinations. My daughter spent waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long doing this, but she loved every minute of it. A few other highlights from the 1st floor included a giant Connect Four game (the height of my first grader) and a giant chess board (chess pieces the height of my 2 year old!) that children (and parents) could play. There was also a HUGE area for pretend play which allowed one to pretend to garden, work in a post office, perform on stage, be an E.R.T or another medically trained professional, and/or be a firefighter, etc. etc.
Upstairs was a whole other collection of fun and exciting things that required children to dust off those imaginations and get to work. There were little centers where real (kid-sized) tools and work benches were accessible to the children along with wood blocks, screws, nails and a whole host of donated items and various materials. My daughter used an assortment of things to create an alien doll. After rounding the corner we found a whole collection of bins filled with scrap fabrics that she used to dress her doll and create a blanket for her doll. Children are not required to make one specific thing, they can make anything that their imaginations and materials will allow. So much fun! There was also a nice size area in which children were able to build with giant connecting blocks. Children were building houses around themselves and laughing out loud (except for the frequent cries of those whose buildings met with an untimely demolition!)
There's another area which explores various aspects of the Olympics and allows one to practice his long jump and measure the distance jumped. My daughter couldn't resist donning the hockey jersey and socks, grabbing a hockey stick and heading into the rink (?) where she (and many others) knocked pucks into the goal whenever the (also a child) goalie was not able to block them. My daughter LOVED this activity!
There's so so much more to explore. We spent about 2 hours at the museum after the party, but wish we could have spent more time as there was so much to see and do!

Maggie Moos

I took Philip and Joshua to the Maggie Moos at Weston and Harrison. (Cary, NC) There was no place to sit and the ice cream was WAY too big. It was also expensive. It was almost $12 for me, Philip, and Joshua. Even though this is a chain all around the US, this was my first opportunity. It seemed to me to be a copy of Cold Stone.
Philip had the blue cotton candy flavor (which covered him from head to toe and all over his clothes.) He really liked it. Joshua had a strawberry, and I had a strawberry with chocolate chips.

Locopops is a gourmet popsicle place. All popsicles are $2 (including tax) and cash only. There are two coolers, one that is cream based and one that is fruit based.
Philip had cookies 'n cream (yummy), Joshua had strawberries 'n cream (WONDERFUL! I helped him finish it.). I had spearmint lemonade (pretty good, but my least favorite of the three.)
The popsicles are about the size of a double popsicle (but only with one stick.) Very yummy and I would recommend this place to anyone.
